Geographical Coverage of work by Helvetas Nepal
and its partners
Nepal covers three main ecological zones: Mountains, Hills and
lowland Tarai. The country is administratively divided into five
development regions with a total of 75 districts.
Helvetas Nepal focuses its work mostly in hill areas with some
activities and programmes reaching out into the Mountains or the
Tarai. The geographical coverage of programmes varies according
to their mandate and their resources. Sector-wide projects cover
a large number of districts (e.g. TBSSP for trail bridges) while
community support and local initiative programmes may work
intensively on a wide range of topics in a limited number of
districts.
